Chevrolet was founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant in 1911. In 1917 Chevrolet was aquired by General Motors because they owned a majority stake in shares. When Chevrolet was founded its aim was to sell public use vehicals which could directly compete against the Model T. Chevrolet is the best selling vehical that General Motors produceds, it is often refered to as Chevy instead of Chevrolet. Chevrolet offers a wide variety of vehicals ranging from small cars to commerical trucks. Its best selling vehical is the Silverado.
